Elvis Presley once sang about his “Blue Suede Shoes,” but the latest assortment of men’s shoes for spring ’16 come in just about every color. Suedes get dressed up or down this season via loafers, brogues and sneakers.
Classic tanned suedes dominated the season (and in a variety of price points, too). Saint Laurent updated its western ankle boot with side fringing. Common Projects offered its signature Achilles low-top in a new suede. Vince offered a tonal espadrille.
Colored suedes were all of the rage as well. Pierre Hardy’s multicolor fringed sneaker is only for the sartorially brave. Less-bold options include Gucci’s horsebit loafer in a deep green, as well as Armando Cabral’s woven slip-on in yellow.
If you’re looking for a more dressy takes on the material, look for brogue or loafer silhouettes. J. Crew’s lace-up brogue is a refined take on the trend, while Mr. Hare’s supple smoking slipper is an option for evening.
