With New York Fashion Week in full swing, we’re taking a look at our favorite things to come out of the action-packed week: shoe collaborations. The season saw new and returning partnerships on the runway, from bigwigs like Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin to emerging brands like Malone Souliers.

George Esquivel: Ryan Roche and Brock Collection
Esquivel teamed up with two labels on shoes this season. For Brock Collection, he designed a minimal collection of velvet loafers and sneakers. “I met Laura and Kris in Paris a couple years ago and really like what they are doing,” he said. “It was an intense process. They spent a lot of time in my shop, and it was a very hands on collaboration — right down to the zipper and lace colors.”
With Ryan Roche, Esquivel created the ‘Ryan’ style — a classic lace-up leather and suede boot, which is offered in rose, blush and black colors. The shoes were handmade in the designer’s Orange County factory and inspired from 1980s icons like Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista.

Christian Louboutin: Novis, Cushnie et Ochs, Jenny Packham, Zac Posen, Naeem Khan and Bibhu Mohapatra
As usual, the brand’s iconic red soles stomped down many runways this season. Louboutin partnered with a number of different labels on runway footwear. Standouts included Novis’ suede booties with oversized tassels, as well as black leather moto boots with stiletto heels at Cushnie et Ochs.
Paul Andrew: Tanya Taylor, Jonathan Simkhai and Rosie Assoulin
On top of debuting his own men’s and women’s collections during New York Fashion Week, Andrew also found the time to partner with three labels. Continuing his ongoing relationship with Tanya Taylor, Andrew created subtle — but cool — corduroy mules for her presentation. Meanwhile, this season was Andrew’s second time partnering with Rosie Assoulin.
Alexandre Birman: Katie Ermilio
For Katie Ermilio’s fall presentation, Birman lent his signature Clarita sandal — a style often favored on the red carpet for its minimal, versatile silhouette. Here, the style was done in black and burgundy velvet.
Manolo Blahnik: Carolina Herrera, J Mendel, Milly, Brandon Maxwell, Sally Lapointe, Protagonist, Wes Gordon
Just call him the ruler of fashion week. Blahnik offered the biggest tally of runway collaborations this season, including a wide range of different labels and aesthetics. An unlikely partnership with Protagonist saw Blahnik’s BB silhouette reworked with a thicker heel. At Wes Gordon, which was presented via Instagram, mid-calf leather boots were flat and pointy, and so were the double-strapped Mary Jane flats in lavender.
Malone Souliers: Adam Lippes
A new partnership for both brands, Malone Souliers took a decidedly more refined approach to its shoes for Adam Lippes (the styles are typically more whimsical). But the fun elements were still there: mint pumps had a slight fur tongue in electric blue, thigh-high suede and leather boots were finished with oversized pilgrim buckles.
