Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow are busy guys. In addition to their new roles as creative directors for DKNY, the duo have been prepping their own label’s men’s and women’s collections. But there isn’t any sort of creative fatigue here — the designers presented a strong men’s collection at Public School for fall.
Of course, menswear is where the duo thrives. The collection was expectedly sporty, but it moved toward a more refined message. Styled with wide-brimmed hats, athletic-inspired separates, like a nylon anorak or camouflage jogger pant, were paired with tailored tweed coats or tuxedo jackets.
Shoes were sneaker-focused, though a few dress shoes also made an appearance. White and black leather low-top sneakers made up most of the collection. Lace-up dress shoes had crepe or wooden soles. (They’ve collaborated with The Generic Man on similar styles in the past.) A few of the looks were also styled with the Air Jordan 125 x Public School collaboration sneaker, which made its debut in December.

This kind of high and low mix speaks to the brand’s cool customers. And the designers know their true audience: This season, the show was opened to the general public — as in non-industry fashion fans — where they could watch from outside. (Models walked the runway there as well.)
