Saint Laurent Deletes Instagram History To Welcome Anthony Vaccarello

Saint Laurent is wiping the slate clean ahead of Anthony Vaccarello’s start as creative director of the house. The brand deleted all of its Instagram posts on the @YSL account, leaving just one photo — that of Vaccarello announcing his appointment.

It was confirmed on Monday that Vaccarello would be heading to Saint Laurent following the departure of Hedi Slimane, who had been at the creative helm of the house for four years.

Vaccarello is the sixth ready-to-wear designer since Saint Laurent retired in 2002, with others including Tom Ford, Alber Elbaz and Stefano Pilati. The Brussels-born Vaccarello previously worked at Fendi and was most recently the creative director of Versus Versace.

YSL CEO Francesca Bellettini spoke positively of Slimane when the announcement was made on Friday.

“The direction that has been taken over the last four years represents an incredible foundation for the brand to build on for its continuous success,” she said.

Vaccarello has not posted anything on his Instagram account with regard to the move. The designer will reportedly remain based in the U.S., as he has homes in New York and Los Angeles.
