Sarah Flint Reveals Inspiration for Fall ’16 Shoe Collection

Aspen and vintage après-ski looks make for a perfect pairing in Sarah Flint’s fall ’16 footwear line.

The designer, who launched her brand in 2013, revealed to FN that the inspiration behind her upcoming collection came from her recent holiday travels. “My trip to [Colorado] for the New Year was definitely the starting point for this collection,” said Flint, who is also a fan of classic movies. “I always find great inspiration in old Hollywood, and as I explored my initial thoughts on this season, vintage après-ski photographs became really important. The glamour of the women on and off the slopes was perfect.”

Flint’s vacation also influenced her choice of materials for the footwear styles. “I stayed at an amazing chalet with the most incredible interiors. Its rich colors and textures inspired the season,” she said, citing warm hues such as olive green and burnt red, which were first introduced in her pre-fall line.

Among the items in the collection are flat suede ankle boots and retro ankle-strap sandals.

Rounding out the collection is a boot named for one of the designer’s favorite fans. “Seeing Blake Lively in my shoes has been so thrilling for me,” said Flint. “I designed the Blake bootie with her chic yet playful style in mind.”
