Sometimes less isn’t more. At Marques Almeida’s latest show, designers Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida played up maximal finishes to much success. Shoes were laced up, frilled, studded or metallic. A denim thigh-high boot, with an oversized bow at the toe cap, was finished with side lacing and a slight yellow block heel — a style that says I may be covered up, but I’m anything but conservative. — Christian Allaire
Day 4
Erdem focused on two key design choices — a silk, patterned jacquard and black crisscross strapping — for footwear in his spring ’17 collection. But before that sounds limiting, he rolled out a variety of versions featuring these beguiling touches, from tall platforms (a modern choice for evening) to lovely pointed flats and a block heel. The notion of head-to-toe dressing has never been taken quite so literally. Or chicly. The designer continues to show a real knack for not only statement dresses, but for shoes, too. —

Day 3
The French have a name for this style of shoe: souliers. Creative director Johnny Coca addressed the courtly style with a fresh set of eyes on Sunday for spring ’17 at London Fashion Week. His version, done as a mule, had an exaggerated square duckbill toe and the modern girl’s requisite chunky heel. Leather ruffling and novelty surface treatments (including mod stripes, embellishment and metallic finishes) kept the royal spirit of the style in tact. —
Day 2
For his spring 2017 collection, J.W. Anderson embraced ultra-feminine, soft looks that he juxtaposed with masculine footwear styles. Among the striking styles are lace-up military boots in navy blue and camel. Some other silhouettes that hit the runway include checked brogues and sleek lace-up ballerina flats. — Staff
Day 1
London-based brand Teatum Jones — which also showed men’s for the first time this season — debuted a collection inspired by the culture and landscapes in Scotland, resulting in several pieces printed in newly-treated botanical prints (some were done in collaboration with artists). The shoes, a collaboration with new footwear label, ATTRIBUTE, were equally as graphic — heeled Chelsea boots, for instance, were color-blocked in primary colors for a slight Piet Mondrian feel. — Christian Allaire
