Tod’s Collaborates With Five Artists On Loafers

The signature Tod’s shoe is getting a makeover. The Italian luxury brand’s Leo loafer is part of a new project helmed by architect Giulio Cappellini, who collaborated with five different artists on exclusive men’s styles.

The new takes — which are all made in Italy — range from $625 to 1,095. Part of the proceeds will benefit L’Abilità, a nonprofit organization based in Milan. The styles launched in Tod’s Milan stores this week, but will be available in New York in mid-May.

Cappellini enlisted five Italian designers and architects to reimagine the iconic loafer silhouette using unexpected materials. Participating names include Lanzavecchia + Wai, Leonardo Talarico, mist-o, Studio Zanellato/Bortotto and Zaven.

“Ceramic, marble, leather, metal and wood are the five materials used for this project,” said Cappellini. “Five different interpretations were thus born … each project reflects the different approach to the product of the designers involved.”
