The mood: The Tod’s customer goes groovy-grunge. An ode to the storied brand’s craftsmen and use of fine leathers, the collection offered a 1970s-style aesthetic — think oversized fur collars and suede suits — paired with more severe pieces like leather trenches and metallic slip dresses. No classic Tod’s girl here.
The shoes: The brand’s signature footwear styles were updated and elevated. The iconic driving moc — styled with fuzzy wool socks — was done in metallic with contrasting whipstitching. Wooden-sole loafers also had the same stitching plus leather kilties that were clipped-on like keychains. New styles included whipstitched leather ankle boots with a thick wooden sole, as well as speed-laced boots.

The review: Like many historical fashion houses, Tod’s is looking to reinvent itself and attract new customers. Call it the Gucci effect. But the effort here is working. The collection felt fresher than it has for a while, but still felt very much Tod’s at the same time. We can see even the most classic of customers embracing the shoes — the details are modern, but not recklessly so.
