Japanese brand Visvim — helmed by Hiroki Nakamura and known for its signature FBT sneakers — is back with new styles for spring ’17. The label’s cult following won’t be disappointed with the latest men’s and women’s collection, which debuted during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 7 in New York.
Among new suede treatments on its FBT sneakers, Visvim also debuted new takes on its 7-Hole boot, a style that will be making its push into the U.S. market. It features seven eyelets for lacing and a hand-sewn construction.

Its Huron moccasin boot, which debuted last year, was also updated in a new high-top silhouette this season. The Skagway high-tops were finished in colored canvases such as red and blue, or with squiggle prints.
Meanwhile, the women’s collection featured styles such as the wooden-sole Geta flip-flop, a modernized take on traditional Japanese footwear. Other highlights included fringe ankle boots in shades that included pink suede, or suede leopard print pumps.

Last spring, the brand drew from western influences and First Nations motifs. Nakamura specifically referenced vintage moccasin styles he found along his travels. “I’ve been collecting old moccasins for a long time. We buy them from my friends’ archives, antique stores, flea markets,” he said.
