Uma Thurman Hosts the Unveiling of a Jimmy Choo Christmas Window Display at Printemps

On Thursday night in Paris, Uma Thurman hosted the opening ceremony of the Printemps Christmas windows on behalf of Jimmy Choo, which is partnering with the Boulevard Haussann department store this festive season. The actress cut a symbolic red ribbon while the curtain behind her lifted to reveal a revolving Christmas tree featuring a cheeky puppet cast of “Choo girls” kicking their exquisitely shod feet.

“It’s a very special occasion for me being here tonight,” she said. “It [the Jimmy Choo Christmas tree window] was magical, so beautiful with these stunning marionettes going around the carousel, completely charming.”

As for Thurman’s own footwear, she wore a pair of Jimmy Choo’s fall ’17 Romy flannel and patent pumps with embellished badges – one in a festive appropriate star shape.

“This is the 20th anniversary of Jimmy Choo, and we have had quite a few events around the world, so what better way to end the year than with Christmas in Paris,” said Jimmy Choo CEO Pierre Denis.

The shoe label’s partnership with Printemps is not limited to the store’s facade, however. There is also a collection of exclusive products inside including a new version of the Swarovski crystal encrusted “Cinderella” shoe created for the eponymous Disney movie plus an update on Choo’s bestselling Romy style done in degradé glitter.

Jimmy Choo has even partnered with Parisian patisserie house, Le Café Pouchkine on a verillione-hued, festive cake in the shape of the label’s Cloud clutch. The bag silhouette lent itself rather more readily to the patisserie treatment than a shoe.

“Christmas is always the best moment for a department store,” said Printemps CEO Paolo De Cesare, predicting 10 million people passing the windows and three and a half million entering store over the festive period.

“Footwear is one of the best performing departments in the store,” he revealed. “I’m a huge believer in the potential of shoes and Jimmy Choo has always been strides ahead.”

So, will he be giving shoes as Christmas presents this year? “Mais non,” he declared. “Shoes are far too personal. I don’t dare to give them to any lady as a present, even my daughters. You have to try them on as for some reason size 38 and 39 are never the same.”
