Fashion Turns Out For Tribeca Film Festival Premiere Of ‘First Monday In May’

The fashion industry was out in force Wednesday night for the start of the Tribeca Film Festival and the premiere of the anticipated documentary “First Monday in May.”

On hand were some of the biggest names in fashion, including Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Talley, plus top designers such as Donna Karan, Zac Posen and Francisco Costa.

The latest documentary by Andrew Rossi is quite the departure from his last project, “Page One: Inside the New York Times.” Consider the film your personal invite to, as Talley describes it, the Super Bowl of fashion events: the Metropolitan Museum of Art‘s annual gala held each year on the first Monday in May. Rossi explores last year’s event and the complications of the theme “China Whispers” to reflect the Costume Institute show featuring Chinese art and fashion through the years.  He also delves into the complexities of balance fashion, commerce, celebrity and art.

Last night, buzzy names including Chloe Grace Moretz, Robert De Niro, Jane Fonda, Karolina Kurkova and Lauren Hutton also hit the red carpet in support of the film. Moretz hit the red carpet for her first duty as a judge at the Tribeca Film Festival wearing a pair of gold sandals.
