Tom Ford Nominated for Two Golden Globe Awards

Designer Tom Ford has been nominated for two Golden Globe Awards for his latest film, “Nocturnal Animals.”

Ford wrote and directed the film, which stars Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal and is based on the novel “Tony and Susan” by Austin Wright. He is nominated for Best Original Screenplay and Best Director at the awards, which will air on Jan. 8 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. At the Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday night, Ford was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay.

The 55-year-old is of course known for his roles as creative director at both Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. Ford launched his namesake label in 2005. That same year, he announced the opening of his film production company, Fade to Black, through which he co-wrote, directed and produced his first film, “A Single Man,” in 2009. Colin Firth, that film’s star, earned his first Academy Award nomination for that role, and Julianne Moore was up a Golden Globe nomination.

During a presentation of the movie in Los Angeles last month, Adams said she found the script very compelling.

“Along with the themes of the film — the loss of one’s self, loss of loyalty — there were so many things I identified with,” Adams said. “It all came together in such a way that I had to do it, and then I knew I’d get to wear Tom Ford.”
