Kanye West didn’t vote in the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 8, but if he had, he said, he would’ve voted for Trump.
This might shock some, as West’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, once posted a selfie with Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and some of his family member, including Kris and Kendall Jenner, publicly supported Clinton, who lost to Republican nominee Donald Trump.
During a concert on Thursday night in San Jose, Calif., West told the crowd that Trump would have had his vote. “I said something that was kind of politically correct. I told y’all I didn’t vote, right. But if I would’ve voted, I would’ve voted on Trump.”
This sparked mixed reactions in the crowd and on social media.

Meanwhile, following the election results, many of West’s fans began calling on him to run for president in 2020, as he announced he would during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. Despite having used Twitter to spew many of his ideas and thoughts earlier this year, West has been mum on the social media platform lately. He did address the rumors last weekend during an appearance on BBC Radio.
“When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views,” he told radio host Annie Mac. “I don’t have views on politics, I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth. If there is anything that I can do with my time to somehow make a difference while I’m still alive, I’m all for it.”
Seems West may have changed his tune, since he certainly seems to have shared his political views last night. The only thing we know for sure about Kanye West is that this certainly will not be the end of this story.
