Why Oprah Winfrey Was Glad She Wore This Pair of Shoes to the White House

Oprah Winfrey visited the White House last week to interview first lady Michelle Obama for a TV special that airs tonight on CBS at 8 p.m. ET. This is the first lady’s final one-on-one interview before President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in on Jan. 20.

While the interview will certainly cover serious topics, Winfrey did have a humorous moment when she arrived at the White House. On her Instagram, she documented the moment when she arrived in her car, only to be blocked from entering because her driver was not on the list. The TV talk-show queen was then sent to a pedestrian gate.

“I’m glad I wore my walking shoes so that I can walk to the interview with the first lady,” Winfrey said on her Instagram as she showed off a pair of black ankle boots. “It’s all good. We’ll get in. I’m glad to know there’s this much security.”

Once inside, Winfrey got a look at some of the White House Christmas trees, and President Barack Obama even stopped by. Winfrey changed from her comfortable shoes into suede pumps for the interview.
