361 Degrees Becomes Official Rio Olympics Supporter

361 Degrees has added its name to the list of athletic brands you’ll see in Rio.

The Irvine, Calif.-based label announced it is an official supporter of the 2016 Summer Olympics. According to the brand, 361 Degrees will outfit the volunteers, medical staff, referees and operational staff in uniforms. The gear that 361 Degrees will provide includes coats, shorts, caps, T-shirts, backpacks and shoes. In all, the brand will provide more than 107,000 uniform kits.

But the brand’s role in the Olympics isn’t limited to outfitting people at the games. According to the athletic label, its president, Jim Monahan, will carry the Olympic torch in Campos de Goytacazes on July 31 after Jay Geier, director of international business development at 361 Degrees, who ran with the torch on July 19 in Jaboticabal.

“361 Degrees will be front and center at the games, and we will stay true to our brand’s mission, and that of the elite athletes participating, by pushing ‘One Degree Beyond,’ ” Geier said in a statement. “By participating in the only worldwide event that seeks to find the common human desire for competitive perfection and represents the epitome of sportsmanship makes this a lifetime moment to remember.”

Although relatively new in the U.S., 361 Degrees eclipsed the 100-store mark in 2015 — with retail partners including Runner’s Depot in Florida, Elite Feet in Kansas and Paragon Sporting Goods in New York. The brand hopes to be in more than 200 stores by year’s end. To build a relationship with consumers, 361 Degrees plans to have a presence at more than 200 events this year, such as 5Ks, marathons and fitness expos.
