4 Things You Didn’t Know About Under Armour’s Stephen Curry

After being down 3-1 to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Western Conference Finals, Stephen Curry led his Golden State Warriors with three consecutive stellar performances, leading his squad back to the NBA Finals for the second straight season.

The Under Armour-sponsored baller’s popularity has grown extraordinarily in recent years, but he hasn’t always been the biggest star in the league. Here are four things you may not have known about the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player.

The Baller Appeared In Burger King Commercials With His Father

Before winning consecutive NBA MVPs and pitching his Under Armour signature shoes to the masses, Curry appeared in Burger King ads with his father, Dell, in the 1990s. In one TV spot, the younger Curry said to his father that he wanted to be a pro one day. Looks like he got what he wanted.

He’s Got More Points Than The Charlotte Hornets’ All-Time Leading Scorer

That all-time leading scorer happens to be the man he appeared in those 1990s Burger King commercials with.

In his 10 seasons with Charlotte, Dell scored 9,839 points. Curry, in seven seasons in the NBA with the Warriors, already has 11,089.

Curry Can’t Defeat Preteen Girls On The Court

The guard has no problem dismantling NBA defenses, but when his opponent is a girl 12 years old and younger, he can’t win.

Curry faced — and beat — a number of opponents such as former pros Tim Legler and Robert Horry in a 3-point shootout in February 2015 hosted by Foot Locker and Under Armour, but lost 16-15 to 10-year-old baller Jaden Newman.

And in September 2015, while on tour in China promoting the release of his latest signature shoe — the Under Armour Curry Two — he got schooled by a 12-year-old girl (who happened to have above-average ball handling skills).

The MVP Guard Loves Zumba

Using the word “love” may be a stretch, but he isn’t afraid to mix it up with the women in his gym when he hears a song he likes. The guard, during his offseason workouts in August 2013, joined a Zumba class full of people who appeared to have no clue who he was.
