Athletic brands lately have spent ample time in the lab, constructing sneakers with the latest and greatest in 3-D printing technology. For the forward-thinking sneakerhead, Adidas’ 3-D shoe will soon be available for purchase.
The athletic giant announced today that its sneakers made with 3-D technology — unveiled in August — would be available to purchase for the first time. The drop will be limited.
The Adidas 3D Runner arrives on Thursday via the Adidas Confirmed app with a $333 retail price. Sign-ups for the sneakers for New Yorkers start today, with reservations opening Tuesday. Pairs will be available for pickup on Thursday at Adidas’ new flagship on Fifth Avenue.

The brand also confirmed that pairs of the coveted sneaker would also be available on Thursday in London and Tokyo.
The 3D Runner boasts an engineered 3-D web structure with density changing where the force of your foot strike is different, a 3-D printed heel counter that is integrated into the midsole to avoid typical gluing or stitching, and a black Primeknit upper for style and fit.
“This is just the beginning. Creating customized shoes based on an individual’s footprint — including their running style, foot shape, performance needs and personal preferences — is a north star for the industry and Adidas is leading with cutting edge innovations,” Mikal Peveto, senior director of Adidas’ Future team, said in a statement.
