New Adidas Adizero 99g Cleats Sell Out Within Minutes

Not only are Adidas‘ new Adizero 99g cleats super-light, but they can also fly — off shelves, at least.

Earlier today, the German athletic brand released a limited-edition version of the Adizero 99g,  touted as the world’s lightest soccer boot. And according to Adidas, the cleats sold out within minutes on Adidas.com and Soccer.com.

Granted, only 299 pairs were produced (retailing for 299 euros, or about $333), but that’s almost Yeezy selling speed.

Coming in at around half the weight of a regular soccer cleat, the Adidas Adizero 99g features a 1-millimeter polyamide outsole and a lightweight one-layer polyurethane mesh-based upper. To provide stability on the field, it is equipped with an inner-skeleton construction. And the stud placement on the cleat plate is intended to promote movement in all directions.

The Adizero 99g was first introduced in April 2015 as part of the Adidas Soccer Limited Collection. To develop the shoe, the brand put it through rigorous player testing, having amateur, semi-professional and professional athletes, including Karim Benzema and David Alaba, use the product.
