Adidas Unveils Its Crazylight 2016 Basketball Style

While the NBA finals are amounting to a full court battle between Nike and Under Armour, Adidas hopes to make some noise of its own.

The German giant said Tuesday it would release its Crazylight 2016 style to consumers on July 2. The silhouette, a low-top basketball shoe designed for quick footwork, is expected to sell for $120. In addition, the sneaker will use Adidas’ heel-to-toe Boost cushioning technology.

“The Crazylight 2016 definitely lives up to the hype,” James Harden, forward for the Houston Rockets, said in a statement. “It’s really comfortable, performs well and has tremendous style. Designs like this and shoes built for my game are the reason why I came to Adidas Basketball.”

Harden had a multiyear deal with Nike that ended in 2015. Soon after, he signed a lucrative 13-year, $200 million deal with Adidas.

Since then, the bearded baller has been busy releasing several Adidas sneakers. Earlier this year, the athletic firm unveiled two new Rockets-inspired colorways of its Crazylight Boost 2.5, featuring Harden’s “13” branding on the upper. The two colorways of the shoes, which complement Houston’s uniforms, were released in “Home” and “Away” versions.

Other NBA players such as Jeremy Lin and Kyle Lowry are expected to wear the Crazylight style throughout the next season.
