Adidas Revives Samoa Sneaker Silhouette

Adidas Originals‘ vintage Samoa sneaker is back, and the credit goes to Woodie White, founder of the Oyster Holdings streetwear label.

According to Adidas, White expressed interest in reviving the 1977 silhouette with a premium finish that would “point to the future” of fashion. He worked closely with the Adidas design team to find a look that would honor the sneaker’s history — particularly its popularity in the 2000s — and connect with today’s aesthetic.

The result is a rich new take on the Samoa sneaker, which comes wrapped entirely in pigskin with a suede treatment — even the midsole is covered with pigskin.

The monotone shoes come in three different colorways — Vapour Pink, Vapour Gray and Pale Nude — with matching cotton laces and truffle-accented outsoles. Each style will retail for $120.

The Samoa “Pigskin” pack will hit select retail stores and the Adidas Originals website on May 21.
