Adidas Unveils PureBOOST X Running Shoe For Women

Adidas impressed the masses with its celebrated Ultra Boost running shoe. The athletic giant looks to do so again with its latest innovative running shoe made just for women, the PureBOOST X.

The PureBOOST X, according to the brand, was developed for women specifically instead of developed for men and adapted for women, with function and fashion in mind. The brand’s design team utilized the state of the art motion tracking technology Aramis to study how the female moves while running to create the shoe. The shoe, a sleek and form fitting silhouette, features a unique floating arch made of adaptive stretch mesh.

“The most unique characteristic is we removed the bonding between the middle of the shoe, and what this does is create a skin-like fit,” Mikal Peveto, senior director of Adidas’ Future Team, told Footwear News. “It allows your foot to have amazing, natural movement.”

Peveto said the shoe is in the brand’s natural running silo, made for a wide variety of runners.

The shoe also features a lockdown lacing system to provide an adaptable fit from heel to toe, and a Stretch Web outsole for flexibility throughout the foot so it can maintain its natural motion.

“With the innovation that has been targeted specifically for women, we do think it will stand on its own as a real revolution in running for her,” Kelly Olmstead, senior director of brand activation for Adidas, told Footwear News.

The PureBOOST X will debut in three colorways: raw purple and shock Red; black and shock green, and mineral blue and halo pink. The shoe hits stores on Feb. 1 and will retail for $120. The Adidas by Stella McCartney version arrives on Feb. 15 in two colorways – dark blue/granite and white/dark blue – with a $170 retail price.
