Adidas Revives Vintage Gazelle Silhouette With Iconic Colorways

Adidas is making a colorful return to its past.

The three-stripes brand has revived its 1991 Gazelle silhouette in its iconic vintage suede construction and collegiate burgundy and core blue color ways. The kicks drop worldwide on Sept. 22 and retail for $80.

Along with the slick fabrication and gem tone hues, other design features incorporate white on the three-stripes logo, tongue, heel tab and sole, and trefoil branding on the tongue and heel tab.

Earlier this summer, the sportswear brand relaunched the Gazelle style, which debuted in 1963 as a soccer sneaker, with a campaign starring supermodel Kate Moss — who often sported the sneakers in the ‘90s.

The first rerelease paid a nod to the ’90s-era style in gray, emerald green and dusty blue.

“Collective memory provides us with the inspiration to create our future,” said Nic Galway, VP of global design at Adidas Originals. “With the relaunch of Gazelle, we looked to the original cultural references that defined the authenticity of the style. Kate Moss has always had a connection to the Adidas Originals brand, and her affection for Gazelle during the ’90s is a testament to the ways the silhouette has been adopted into style and pop culture.”
