The TCS New York City Marathon is a month away, and running’s top brands are starting to deliver race-themed sneakers for its runners to wear. Coming next week is a drop from Altra, dressing its best-selling road shoe with graphics inspired by the Big Apple.
The limited-edition Altra Torin “NYC” arrives in the brand’s East Coast specialty run retail stores, the REI store in New York, select online running shoe retailers and via altrarunning.com on Tuesday and will retail for $130. It will also be sold at Altra’s booth at the race. To show off the latest iteration of its acclaimed shoe, on Nov. 3 — three days before the marathon — Altra will host a launch party at the Soho location of outdoor retail giant REI that will include a premarathon shake-out run, prizes and giveaways.

“Just five years ago, we launched our original shoe. Now, Altra is excited to branch out into limited-edition projects,”said Brian Beckstead, VP of sales for Altra, in a statement. “What better way to launch than celebrating such a great metropolitan melting pot like New York City? The timing of the marathon and Altra’s No. 1 road shoe, the Torin, are perfect together.”
