Amar’e Stoudemire made his NBA debut in 2002 with no college experience, jumping from high school to the pros. Today, the 14-year veteran retired from the league.
According to the official public relations Twitter account of the New York Knicks, Stoudemire signed a contract with the team on Tuesday to officially retire as a Knick. After spending eight seasons with the Phoenix Suns, Stoudemire became a free agent and signed a five-year contract with New York in 2010 worth $99.7 million.
After Stoudemire and the Knicks agreed to a buyout in February 2015, the power forward signed with the Dallas Mavericks. At the end of the 2014-15 season, he signed with the Miami Heat.

The six-time NBA All-Star laced up Nike when hitting the court throughout his career. During the 2015-16 season with the Heat, he was spotted in the Nike Kyrie 2 and the Nike LeBron 12 Elite. Stoudemire also wore the signature shoes of LeBron James as a member of the Knicks, including player’s editions of the Nike LeBron Zoom Soldier 8.
The 33-year-old leaves the league with career averages of 18.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.
