APL Readies TechLoom Phantom Running Shoe Release

APL hasn’t been in the running market for very long, but its shoes quickly become the favorites of people who hit the road or treadmill wearing them. Its latest release in the category is sure to keep fans of the brand satisfied.

The TechLoom Phantom arrives today in men’s and women’s sizes and will retail for $165.

Other key shoe characteristics include a neoprene tongue with an integrated collar, an 8mm drop from the heel to the forefoot, and an outsole inspired by the shape of a feather that uses natural motion flex grooves.

APL, which got its start in basketball, first entered the running market with its fall ’14 collection.

“We wanted to create products for people who are running, who are athletes and who go to the gym and will do squats and then get on the treadmill, but the shoes should also work for people who are running 40 to 50 miles a week,” Ryan Goldston, co-founder of the brand, told Footwear News in June 2014.
