The Boston Marathon is scheduled for Monday, and plenty of athletic brands are getting in on the fun with Boston-themed running shoes. Many of the brands are selling the shoes at the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo, which kicked off today and runs through Sunday at Boston’s Hynes Convention Center.
While Adidas is the official footwear and apparel sponsor, plenty of other brands are offering up shoes for the big day.

Adidas 2016 Boston Marathon Adizero Adios 3

The Adidas 2016 Boston Marathon Adizero Adios 3 is available in two colors. The blue-and-yellow colorway pays homage to the colors of the Boston Athletic Association, which organizes the race. The Equipment Green colorway is in honor of the 25th anniversary of Adidas’ Equipment line, as well as the first Adidas Boston Marathon Anthem jacket.

Brooks “Nantucket” Adrenaline GTS 16

The shoe, according to the brand, is inspired by summers spent on the cape and by the coastal culture and sailing roots of New Englanders. The shoe features an all-American plaid pattern and nautical imagery including a lobster on the shoelace lock, a sailboat and whale on the heel, and an anchor on the sockliner.
New Balance Fresh Foam 1080 Boston and Fresh Foam Zante v2 Boston

The two styles are inspired by Boston’s collegiate tradition and the city’s love of running. The Fresh Foam 1080 Boston has a cushioned underfoot feel and offers a neutral ride, while the Fresh Foam Zante v2 Boston has the smooth ride that has made the silhouette popular among runners. The chevron design on the sock liners points forward to motivate runners to continue despite the cold winter. The words “Run Boston” can be found on the shoelaces.

Saucony’s Boston Marathon shoes this year pay homage to the city’s Green Line subway system, which runs along much of the course. The two models will feature similar elements, including a green and silver palette, sockliners that feature the pattern used on seats of the older trains, a tongue badge boasting a custom “Saucony – Inbound” logo, and a heel that portrays a “circled runner” inspired by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority logo. Both shoes also include the brand’s Everun cushioning compound, a TPU-based polymer that offers greater energy return, as well as extra durability and temperature resistance.

The Nike Free RN features Lunarlon cushioning with large hexagonal flex grooves that allows for natural motion and comfort runners need for distance. The LunarEpic Flyknit has a mid-rise Flyknit upper that’s designed to act like a natural extension of a runner’s leg, leaving only the feeling of soft cushioning underfoot. The Zoom Streak LT 3 is a unisex shoe that’s updated with more room in the forefoot to allows for more foot spring. All the shoes are done in Boston-inspired colors.

Newton’s Fate silhouette has been updated with an homage to the challenging Boston Marathon race course. On one side of the upper there’s a “Welcome to Newton” sign — the town right outside Boston where runners have to take on what’s known as “Heartbreak Hill” as they near the last few miles of the course. On the other side is a Boston skyline. The shoe also has a new seamless, open-weave mesh upper that allows for additional comfort and breathability.
