Lewis Kent Will Pound a Beer While Running in This Brooks Sneaker

For the avid runner who enjoys tipping back a few beers, the Beer Mile is a race to cherish. And when Brooks athlete Lewis Kent engages on his upcoming Beer Mile, he’ll be wearing a special sneaker during the competition.

Kent, a former world record holder in the boozy race, is scheduled to run in the FloTrack Beer Mile World Championships in Austin, Texas, on Saturday. For the race, Brooks has provided him with the “Beer Mile” Hyperion, a drunk iteration of the brand’s running shoe designed with speed in mind.

“The goal is simple: to get out there and go as quick as I can. Drink fast and run hard,” Kent said in a statement. “Training has been going exactly as planned. Without a collegiate cross country season this fall, I have been able to put in bigger training weeks and avoid over-racing. The Beer Mile World Championships will be an amazing showdown.”

The “Beer Mile” Hyperion boasts a red maple leaf on the heel for Kent’s Canadian roots, a beer graphic on the insoles with the left reading “Beer” and the right “Mile,” and shoelace aglets that read “Run Hoppy” (an intoxicated take on Brooks’ “Run Happy” slogan) on the left foot and “Live Lager” on the right.

But if you’re looking for this specific “Beer Mile” Hyperion, unfortunately it’s just for Kent. However, you could pick up a different pair of the Hyperion sneaker, which is available via brooksruning.com for $130.
