The Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition’s pledge for CEOs to accelerate putting more women in leadership roles has another signature.
Jim Weber, CEO of Brooks Running Company, is the latest executive to sign. Not only did Weber sign the pledge, he was elected to serve on the organization’s board of directors.
“I’m passionate about creating career opportunities and developing everyone to their full potential as impact players in our industries. The OIWC CEO Pledge and my position on the OIWC Board of Directors are steps in the right direction of advancing women’s leadership within Brooks and the running industry,” Weber said in a statement. “Both men and women are embracing the run lifestyle and it’s important that our culture and leadership reflect the rich diversity of runners.”
The organization’s executive director, Deanne Buck, believes Weber’s presence will be an asset to the OIWC.

“With Jim’s addition to the board of directors, we will be able to use his experience and expertise to build a stronger framework for women to thrive in the industry — from participant to executive leadership,” she said in a statement.
During the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market expo in August of last year, the OIWC announced it received 29 pledges with its sights set on 50 before the end of the year. The pledge, according to the OIWC, asks for the CEOs who sign to commit to improving their company’s recruiting efforts toward women and enforce practices geared toward to increasing retention. The pledge currently has 45 CEO signatures.
