Brooks has delivered coveted sneakers to devoted runners for decades, but the brand has never gone to TV to deliver its pro-running message – until now. The brand’s first TV commercial is set to air during the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Team Trials on NBC this Saturday.
The commercial – titled “The Rundead” – shows zombies roaming a postapocalyptic town that become more alive from the power of running when they find shoes from Brooks. The brand says the commercial captures the transformative power of running and sounds a call to action to inspire happiness and positivity through running.
“We wanted to tap into that universal understanding that runners share,” said Jon Wyville, EVP and executive creative director at Leo Burnett Chicago, in a statement. “The visual progression from stumbling zombie to clear-eyed, happy runner in the TV spot will resonate with runners of any experience level and remind them of the joy running can provide.”
The spot was created in partnership with Leo Burnett Chicago, and after the Olympic Trials it will also be shown across the U.S. before the new Jesse Owens biopic, “Race,” which hits theaters Feb. 18.
