Concepts Nabs Nike For Its First Collab Of 2016

As part of its year-long 20th anniversary celebration, premier boutique retailer Concepts has teamed up with athletic giant Nike for its first collaboration of 2016.

The Concepts x Nike Free Trainer 1.0 Thermal arrives Saturday and will retail for $160. The shoe will be available at the retailer’s Cambridge, Mass., and New York City locations starting at 10 a.m., and via its website starting at 12 p.m.

The colorway used for the cross-training silhouette is inspired by sports-science thermal cameras and thermal-reactive materials, according to Concepts. The shoe features a tongue with thermal-reactive materials that change to a thermal camera pattern when the foot temperature rises, flex points in six areas of the shoe that allow the foot to move naturally, a breathable mesh upper, a heel pull tab and Concepts branding on the tongue and the back.

Concepts said it will release a series of collaborations with multiple athletic brands to celebrate its 20th year in business.

Last July, Concepts and Nike collaborated on the Grail Collection, using three of the brand’s popular skateboard silhouettes — the SB Janoski Max, the SB Dunk High and the SB Dunk Low — in an attempt to compile a collection of the best SB sneakers Nike has released.
