Converse has released its first collaboration on the Chuck Taylor All Star II, which debuted in July. The updated Chuck Taylor All Star silhouette is very similar to its classic predecessor, but features technical updates in construction and technology, including Nike’s Lunarlon cushioning.
The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II Futura sneakers, designed with graffiti artist Futura, have additional weatherized rubber and veneering for added function. Futura told Footwear News in 2015 that he’s been wearing Converse since his childhood in New York. A pair of his paint-splattered Chucks were featured in Converse’s “Made by You” campaign last year.
“I don’t remember where I was wearing them, but I must’ve been painting in them somewhere,” he said. “Wearing the shoes, that was something I did growing up in New York. I’m going back 40 years. Nothing here is forced. This is an organic thing.”

The upper features camouflage rip-stop with an overlay of Futura’s signature graffiti print. Even the soles of the sneakers are camo. The shoes are available in both high-top and low-top styles, retailing for $100 to $110.
“I wanted to create a Chuck II that embodied my approach to art and life,” Futura said. “From the camo to the weatherized rubber, this collection is made for function and style, for getting out on the streets and unleashing your creativity. I’m honored to have the first opportunity to riff on the Chuck II silhouette.”
The collection is available Feb. 1 at specialty retailers, Converse stores and Converse.com.
