Dustin Johnson Wins U.S. Open Golf Championship In Adidas

Dustin Johnson took home the trophy Sunday at the 116th U.S. Open in Oakmont, Pa. The Adidas-sponsored golfer carded 69 and finished four under par to claim his first major title.

Johnson hit the course over the past week at the Oakmont Country Club wearing Adidas Golf TOUR360 boost shoes in multiple colorways. The re-engineered footwear features a premium leather upper with climaproof technology, a full-length boost midsole foam, a new heel shape and 360WRAP with lighter and more flexible saddle material. Johnson opted for the white, silver metallic and dark silver metallic colorway for the final round on Sunday.

Despite a penalty stroke due to a rules infraction on the fifth green when Johnson’s ball slightly moved, the No. 6 ranked golfer earned the win by three strokes over Shane Lowry, Jim Furyk and Scott Piercy.

The controversial penalty ruling caused fellow golfers to speak out.

Under Armour’s Jordan Spieth tweeted,”DJ took the high road to take that penalty. This ordeal cannot be overlooked because of a multiple shot victory.” Rory McIlroy also tweeted, “This is ridiculous … No penalty whatsoever for DJ. Let the guy play without this crap in his head.”
