Dwyane Wade Gets Candid About His Fashion Week Plans & Joining The Business

Dwyane Wade’s surprising move from the Miami Heat to the Chicago Bulls has been the subject of much discussion, but there’s been little debate about his status in the fashion world.

The star shooting guard has been a regular for years on the front rows of runway shows, and this week he’s serving as an ambassador for New York Fashion Week: Men’s. Fresh off a trip to the Paris presentations, Wade told FN he’s excited to see how the American designers compare.

“Designers who show during New York Fashion Week tend to showcase more wearable fashion with less interpretation,” he said, citing Dean and Dan Caten, and Dao-Yi and Maxwell Osborne as some of his favorite designers. “What’s important to me are designers who make clothes that complement and fit an athletic build.”

Wade, who already has a signature sneaker line with Chinese brand Li-Ning, confessed that launching his own fashion label is a strong possibility. “That’s naturally the next step in this journey,” he said.

“It would be made up of pieces to create the perfect uniform for every man’s life. It would be both functional and stylish. The complete line will be interchangeable, making every outfit effortless.”
