Fila Announces Multiyear Endorsement Deal With John Isner

Fila announced on Tuesday that it has signed a multiyear endorsement deal with American tennis player John Isner. Isner is currently ranked 11th in the world and is the only American player in the men’s top 20.

Fila is adding Isner to its sponsorship roster, which includes other tennis players Sam Querrey, Andreas Seppi, Jelena Jankovic, Nadia Petrova and several others.

“[John’s] ability on-court, his pursuit of excellence and his passion for the game make him an excellent representative for the Fila brand,” said John Epstein, president of Fila North America. “We are thrilled to align with a world-class athlete like John and we look forward to this collaborative relationship.”

Isner’s partnership with Lacoste ends this year, but during that period Isner wore Nike footwear.

“I have long admired and respected Fila and it’s an honor to join the legends of the game who have worn Fila on-court,” he said.

The 30-year-old Isner gained more fame after his 2010 first-round Wimbledon match against Nicolas Mahut that turned out to be the longest tennis match in history—11 hours and five minutes.

The Australian Open, which starts Jan. 18, is the first Grand Slam tournament of 2016.
