Jordan Heads X Globe Launches Air Jordan-Inspired ‘Cement’ Skateboard

When Michael Jordan believed he could fly, so did early street skaters.

Taking inspiration from Air Jordan IIIs, all-Jordan sneaker boutique Jordan Heads launched a new skateboard design that serves as a love letter to the baller’s influence on skate culture.

The collaboration with Australian manufacturer Globe was launched on Thursday in Brooklyn, N.Y. — the basketball great’s birthplace — at The Brooklyn, A Hotel.

The design features Brand Jordan’s “cement” graphics and Jordan Heads x Globe’s logo on the top. The deck features graphics with “Where Brooklyn At?” emblazoned across the board.

The Jordan Heads x Globe board is a tribute to Air Jordan’s origins in skate culture. “Creatively the process was epic, and we are all super-proud of the final product, mixing ‘80s skate and sneaker flavors, the key origins of Globe and Jordan Heads Brooklyn,” Globe said in a statement.

Modern street skateboarding pioneers helped influence the relevance of Air Jordans among skaters, the retailer explained on its website. “Pro skaters such as Mark Gonzales and Lance Mountain ripped and shredded in AJ 1s. For some skaters, later down the line, the Jordan III, IV and V were the shoes of choice. The board pays homage to the shoe that was a skater’s choice in the mid ‘80s, as well as the early hip-hop soundtrack that accompanied those times.”

Available in limited quantity at the boutique, only 23 completes and 85 decks have been produced.
