Kevin Durant Wears Nike KD8 Elite PE Sneakers With Built-In Knee-High Socks

It may seem crazy, but photos have circulated on social media showing Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant wearing a new version of his signature shoe that features a built-in knee-high sock.

The photos show Durant at practice wearing a bright-orange player’s edition pair of his Nike KD8 sneakers with a built-in compression sock that reaches all the way to his knee. Durant hasn’t worn this sneaker-sock combination in an official game yet, but we’ve seen him wear the shoes on the court along with compression tights.

On social media, some have poked fun at the bright-orange kicks, comparing them to cartoon character Daffy Duck’s orange legs.

At the end of February, Nike unveiled the KD8 Elite, which features a crew-length compression sock. Designer Leo Chang said that the design was based on ongoing feedback from Durant.

“The KD8 Elite is conceptually designed to blur the lines between the shoe, sock and tight; seamlessly transitioning between each so you can’t differentiate where one begins and the other ends,” Chang said in a statement.

The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team recently debuted special-edition KD8 Elite sneakers for the NCAA tournament, as the Huskies push their way toward a fourth straight championship.

The KD8 Elite drops April 14 globally in white, May 5 in gray and May 26 in black.
