For basketball fans, the time between the NBA All-Star Game and the trade deadline is exciting and compelling. And although blockbuster deals where superstar players are dealt to new teams are sparse, on occasion a megastar gets shipped to a new city.
This season, however, talk of a trade is louder for a few of the game’s biggest names.
Arguably the biggest name surrounded by trade buzz is Dwight Howard. The Peak-sponsored center for the Houston Rockets is labeled as a disgruntled superstar, and he has been unhappy in previous stops with the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers. Chatter around the league says Howard isn’t happy in Houston either, and wants to be traded. Multiple reports are stating that there aren’t many teams interested in Howard, and the teams that are interested aren’t willing to give up much to get him. Other reports say Howard wants to play for his hometown team, the Atlanta Hawks.

Another big name being discussed is Blake Griffin. The core of the Los Angeles Clippers has underperformed in the opinions of fans and sports analysts, led by Jordan Brand-sponsored guard Chris Paul and center DeAndre Jordan, failing to make the NBA Finals since coming together. And Griffin’s recent scuffle, which left him injured, isn’t making the Jordan Brand-sponsored baller favorable to keep around. Griffin – who plays in the Super.Fly 4 – has only suited up for 30 of 53 games this season. Amid trade rumors, multiple reports are stating that a Griffin trade after the season is more likely, with the Clippers hoping to land Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant in a sign-and-trade.
The last big name swirling in trade talk is Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs gave up a lot to surround LeBron James with Love, including last season’s Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins, but the chemistry on the court hasn’t been as strong as it was when James won titles with the Miami Heat. Love, who left up-and-coming brand 361° for Nike, has been the rumored desired player of the Boston Celtics.
