New Balance Is Bringing Back Classic Styles For Anniversary

New Balance is generating a green movement of its own, letting nothing go to waste.

The Boston-based company is preparing to release the New Balance MiUK Surplus Pack, which leverages surplus materials in some of New Balance’s most iconic MiUK styles.

The collection, timed for the company’s 110th anniversary, includes five classic styles — 1500, 670, 575, 576 and 577 — along with a new silhouette created for the anniversary, the 991.5. Made in New Balance’s U.K. factory in Flimby, each silhouette includes sections that have been individually selected from the factory’s most premium surplus material. Every piece marks a different part of New Balance’s MiUK’s unique history, with only 1,906 pairs of each silhouette to be released, complete with numbered hang tags.

The New Balance MiUK 991.5 combines the classic 991 upper with a 1500 outsole. The new model pays homage to the brand’s domestic manufacturing heritage in the U.K., while also symbolizing the evolution of New Balance Lifestyle through the reimagination of two classic silhouettes for a modern version.

The Surplus Pack 1 drop arrives Saturday, consisting of M991.5SP, M670SP and M576SP.

The Surplus Pack 2 drop arrives Sept. 24, consisting of M577SP, M1500SP and M575SP.
