Soccer star Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior — commonly referred to as Neymar or Neymar Jr. — has a collection on the way with a label boasting the name of the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan, making him the first athlete to sport the Jumpman logo on the pitch.
The NJR x Jordan collection is available Wednesday in adult and youth sizes via the Nike Soccer app and will be available via nike.com starting Friday. The collection boasts a soccer boot, a soccer training shoe, and the Air Jordan 5 Retro Low.
“Michael Jordan set the standard for greatness,” Neymar Jr. said in a statement Wednesday. “He’s an incredible competitor and a champion. I’ve always admired him, so to collaborate with him and have his icon on my boots means a great deal to me.”
Inspired by the design of the Air Jordan 5 — Neymar Jr.’s favorite sneaker, according to Nike — is the NJR x Jordan Hypervenom soccer boot. The boot features reflective Swoosh branding, reminiscent of the Air Jordan 5 reflective tongue, and the cement print that Jordan shoes made popular on its soleplate.

“The Jordan V is very iconic and has the fighter jet shark teeth on the front,” said Nathan VanHook, Nike Football senior design director. “The Hypervenom II that Neymar Jr. wears has an almost modernized version of that feature, so we took those elements and put them together.”
On the Hypervenom soccer boot and the soccer training shoe in the collection, the number “23” is printed on the heel on one side as an homage to Jordan, and Neymar’s “10” on the the other.
The NJR x Jordan Air Jordan V Retro Low is sure to be both a sneakerhead and soccer fan favorite. The shoe features “Neymar” stitched inside the tongue and an entirely reflective upper.
“I’m excited that Neymar and the Jordan Brand are working together,” Jordan said. “I’m a fan of his creativity, style and passion for the game of soccer. He’s a special player, and I look forward to this collaboration.”
