Nike Introduces Air Force 1 Built For The Golf Course

Nike has many shoes in its catalog that could be referred to as iconic. To kickoff April, the athletic giant will release a reimagined iteration of one of its icons — the Air Force 1 — making it ready for the green, not the street.

The Nike Lunar Force 1 G arrives Friday and will retail for $140. The shoe will be sold via Nike’s website and select retailers.

Nike-sponsored athlete Tony Finau, the 72nd ranked golfer in the world, is currently wearing the shoe. Finau got his first PGA Tour win on Sunday at the Puerto Rico Open, holding off golfer Steve Marino during a playoff.

The Air Force 1, a streetwear staple, is the medium for the latest gold release, dressed with the necessities to be a solid golf shoe. The shoe boasts the brand’s Lunarlon cushioning as well as waffle-tread Integrated Traction for stability.

The shoe will drop in two colorways: a black-and-white silhouette and an all-white iteration.

This isn’t the first time Nike has taken one of its classic shoes and transformed it into a shoe ready for any golf course. The brand made a version of its Blazer shoe built for the green for acclaimed golfer Michelle Wie. The shoe was not released last year, but may see shelves in 2016, according to Nike.
