Nike Debuts Spring 2016 Nike Air Collection

Nike’s classic Air Force 1 sneaker is getting a fresh update for spring 2016. The Nike Air technology made its debut in 1978 in running shoes and in basketball shoes in 1982. Since then, the Air Force 1 has become an off-court fashion statement, especially for sneaker lovers.

The athletic brand says this new collection revisits that era’s interest in personalizing on-court style and this “next generation that competes without fear and with style.”

The new Nike Air Force 1 Pivot is updated with features including a stripe at the midsole and star clusters on the tongue and the heel. It’s offered in red, white, navy and black, along with apparel designed with modern elements, such as large pockets for a phone and updated hemlines.

The sneakers retail for $90 and are available on Nike.com and select retailers.

Nike released several Air Force 1 updates in 2015, including a cork pair and a collaboration pair with Dover Street Market. In June, Nike released the original Air Force 1 in limited quantity. Decades after its debut, it’s still one of the most recognizable and sought-after sneakers for sneakerheads.
