Nike plans to give its Air Presto style a new look.
The Beaverton, Ore.-based company said Thursday it would improve the sneaker, known for its alpha sizing, comfort and agenda-setting sock-like construction, through several updates.
The Nike Air Presto, which quickly found favor with both runners and sneaker collectors alike after its debut in 2000, will be reworked with “new materials and technology to create the Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit,” according to a statement from the company.
The original style was widely promoted as a T-shirt for the foot, offering comfortable sizing options with a strict devotion to a minimal aesthetic.
For the update, Nike used its Flyknit technology to offer more stretch in the shoe’s collar, ventilation in the toe and tongue areas, as well as for more support in the heels.

The athletic company said it also added a mid-cut collar to give the style a modern look.
The revamped Nike Air Presto will available to the public through the Nike SNKRS app on April 28, before showing up in stores and online on May 5.
Nike has been pushing many of its retro styles of late. Last month, the company released the Nike Air Presto GPX Tropical silhouette for $130.
