Nike Debuts Auto-Lacing HyperAdapt Sneaker

Nike is forever innovating. Today, Mark Parker, president and CEO of Nike Inc., unveiled four new innovations that include the Nike Air VaporMax shoe, the mud-beating polymer Nike Anti-Clog Traction, the sport-informed adaptive lacing system Nike HyperAdapt 1.0, and the new Nike+ app.

The VaporMax provides lightweight, consistent cushioning that’s designed to last. The new technology allows the VaporMax Air unit to act as a standalone outsole by incorporating the Air and exterior layer into one unit and eliminate the need for a traditional foam midsole. This achieves greater flexibility and spring while reducing weight and waste.

The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 is powered by an underfoot-lacing mechanism that addresses individual idiosyncrasies in lacing and fit preferences. This means the undue pressure cause by tight tying and slippage resulting from loose laces are replaced by a precise, consistent, personalized lockdown that can be manually adjusted on the go.

Nike’s Anti-Clog Traction prevents mud from clogging the sole page of its soccer boots. The sole plates include an adaptive polymer that becomes compliant when exposed to water. It will be available on the Nike Football App on April 15 in limited quantitates on special versions of the current Tiempo, Magista and Hypervenom models.

Lastly, the Nike+ app provides members with personal guidance, support and other tailored resources. Coaching and training programs help improve a range of activities including a runner’s times to a yogi’s flexibility. In June, the company’s most coveted products and events will be linked by the app via a seamless sign-on. It also introduces personalized shops for members, filled with tailored product recommendations.
