Starting in January and throughout February, Nike is taking inspiration from black athletes who have soared above the rest for its Black History Month collection.
In addition, the collection supports Nike’s Ever Higher Fund, which brings mentoring and sports to African American youth, working with partners that include National Head Start, Coach Across America, Boys & Girls Clubs and the Jackie Robinson Foundation.
The collection debuted in 2005 and has since evolved from just the Nike Air Force 1 style to an extensive product range. The limited-edition 2016 collection includes releases beginning in January and running throughout February. It encompasses 28 products for sports, including tennis, basketball, football and more. Nike has created a “Pan African-inspired color palette, with custom geometric motifs” seen throughout the collection.

The line will launch with releases of the LeBron 13, KD8, Kyrie 2 — all three of which will also be offered in youth sizes — and the Kobe 11.
The releases continue with the classic Air Force 1, the Nike Air Footscape Magista football cleat and the popular lifestyle Roshe One shoes. For tennis lovers, there will be a NikeCourt Flare, and for runners, a Streak LT 3. Nike is also giving its Air Jordan 1 Nouveau and AJ1 High for girls the printed treatment.
