Nike’s Next Soccer Cleat Is For The Soccer And Wine Enthusiast

Bringing soccer standout Andrea Pirlo’s love for the pitch and love for wine together is Nike, creating a limited-edition cleat for the midfielder that is due in stores next week.

The Nike Tiempo Pirlo is the athletic giant’s shoe dedicated to Pirlo, who aside from playing for the New York City FC and the Italy national team also owns the Pratum Coller winery in Italy. The cleat arrives Sept. 19 via the Nike Football App and nike.com.

The cleat is executed with premium Alegria leather in a hue reminiscent of merlot and boasts prominent features such as four gold stars on the heel counter (bearing a similar look to Pratum Coller’s logo) to honor Italy’s World Cup titles, and the Italian flag on the lace aglet. The style also features the words “Aged Since ’94” in metallic gold on the cork sock liner and the shoebox, which is dressed in polka dots. To further enhance the packaging story, Nike housed the cleats in a box packaged similar to a bottle of wine. For the fan of a performance sock liner versus the stylish cork, Nike provided something more appropriate for play on the pitch.

Aside from the cleat, Nike also has a turf offering of the cleat.
