Adidas’ Novak Djokovic Beats Nike’s Roger Federer, Heads To Australian Open Finals

Novak Djokovic is back in the Australian Open finals to defend his title. The Serbian rolled past Roger Federer in the semifinals 6-1, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to get to the finals, where he’ll play either Andy Murray or Milos Raonic.

The Adidas footwear-sponsored Djokovic has won five Australian Opens, and if he wins again this year he’ll match former Australian star Roy Emerson’s six wins there.

With both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal out on the men’s side, there are no Nike-wearing players left. Murray wears Under Armour and Raonic has a deal with New Balance. Murray and Raonic are set to take the court at Rod Laver Arena on Friday.

On the women’s side, Nike still has its star Serena Williams, who will meet Adidas’ Angelique Kerber in the finals.

A few new tennis sponsorships have been announced recently. Adidas added Tomas Berdych to its roster, and Asics is outfitting David Goffin.
