Reebok Will Soon Have a New Home

Reebok is leaving its longtime Canton, Mass., home and moving to Boston.

The athletic standout announced today that it has secured a location for its new corporate headquarters. Reebok will soon occupy 220,000 square feet of space over five floors at 25 Drydock Ave. in Boston’s Seaport District.

The brand said it expects to be moved into the new location by fall ’17.

“Our vision is to bring ‘The Home of Fitness,’ which we’ve created at our Canton HQ, to this new location. We have a goal of being the fittest, healthiest workplace in the country, and this new location will go a long way in helping us achieve this goal,” Matt O’Toole, president of Reebok, said in a statement. “It will be a workplace unlike any other in the city, with amenities that will not only benefit our employees, but the local community as well.”

To execute the “Home of Fitness” promise, the headquarters — the home to roughly 700 employees — will feature a two-floor, 30,000-sq.-ft. gym with a CrossFit box, multiple studio spaces and a boxing ring. The brand also stated it plans to build a one-mile running track around the facility for public use.

Other people in the fitness and wellness field that will be on location include personal trainers, a dietician, and professionals in acupuncture, massage and physical therapy.

Also available to the employees and public at the HQ is a farm-to-table cafe and an 8,000-sq.-ft. Reebok FitHub retail store.

“Our goal is to not only provide a great environment for our employees, but for the people of Boston as well,” O’Toole said. “We believe in the power of community — and more specifically the power of community fitness. We are committed to bringing the passion we have for fitness to the local community and inviting people to join us on our mission to get people moving.”

The new home will be the Innovation & Design Building, and O’Toole stated Reebok would collaborate with the innovators that occupy the space.

“One of the aspects that appealed to us was the incredibly innovative culture that is so apparent when you visit the space,” O’Toole said.  “We hope to add to this spirit of innovation, and look forward to collaborating with our new neighbors. I know this environment will inspire our people, and I hope we can inspire those around us as well.”

The collaborative effort will include the “Makers Lab” — visible to the public — that will provide a look at what Reebok believes is the next generation of footwear and apparel creation techniques, as well as Reebok’s product testing and prototyping labs.

Aside from O’Toole, other prominent people in the Boston community have expressed excitement in Reebok’s move.

“Reebok’s decision to move their headquarters to the Seaport is another example of how Boston is attracting innovative, global companies that are invested in making our City a better place,” Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh said in a statement. “I welcome Reebok to Boston, and look forward to engaging with them about how we can ensure all Bostonians lead healthy, active lifestyles.”
