Rory MacDonald has appeared in some of the most celebrated fights in UFC history. Now, the Reebok-sponsored MMA standout will bring his octagon theatrics to Bellator.
According to multiple reports, the fighter known as “Red King” has signed with Bellator MMA after a brief free-agency period. Although the Canadian fighter still has a profile on the UFC website — and is listed as the No. 3 welterweight on the profile — he has been removed from the organization’s official welterweight rankings.
MacDonald has a professional record of 18-4, with two of those four losses coming in his last two appearances in the octagon: a unanimous decision loss to Stephen Thompson in June and a fifth-round knockout in a bloody match to then-welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in July 2015.

Reebok, a partner of UFC, announced it signed a deal with MacDonald in July 2015, joining the brand’s list of sponsored MMA stars including Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor and Paige VanSant.
The 27-year-old fighter spoke with Footwear News in March and shared the shoes he trains in to get ready to fight. For workouts, he’s in the brand’s FuryLite, and he hits the treadmill in the ZPump Fusion. MacDonald said when he’s not training, he’s wearing the Reebok Ventilator, most often choosing the brand’s collaboration with BAPE and Japanese retailer Mita on the silhouette, which debuted in January.
