Saucony Unveils Special-Edition Boston Marathon Sneakers

Although the Boston Marathon is more than a month away, premier running brand Saucony has unveiled its shoes dedicated to not only the race but also the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.

The “Green Line” special edition Kinvara 7 and Triumph ISO 2 are set to launch April 15. A presale will be available on March 16 at 6 p.m. ET via Massachusetts-based retailer Marathon Sports’ website and the Saucony Booth at the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo. The shoes will retail for $120 and $160, respectively.

The Boston Marathon and The Green Line, the oldest subway system in the U.S., both debuted in 1897. The Green Line, according to the brand, runs along much of the marathon’s course. To commemorate these Boston institutions, the two models will feature similar elements, including a green and silver palette, sockliners that feature the pattern used on seats of the older trains, a tongue badge boasting a custom “Saucony – Inbound” logo, and a heel that portrays a “circled runner” inspired by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority logo.

The Kinvara 7 and Triumph ISO2 both feature the brand’s Everun cushioning compound, a TPU-based polymer that offers a greater energy return than others for the brand in the past, as well as extra durability and temperature resistance.

Boston Marathon Weekend kicks off with the number pickup on April 15, with the running of the 120th Boston Marathon taking place on April 18.
