The custom kicks crafted by Dominic “The Shoe Surgeon” Chambrone are very much in demand. For Brooklyn locals and people throughout the rest of New York, the pursuit of a pair is about to become a bit easier.
Chambrone and his Sole Swap Pop-Up Shop will be held Friday through Sunday at 224 Roebling St. in the borough’s Williamsburg neighborhood. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET, customers at his shop will have the ability to pick up a pair of custom sneakers — referred to by The Shoe Surgeon as a sole swap — by choosing the sneaker’s components from a menu. Chambrone and his shop associates will then put the kicks together.
But that’s not the only way you could purchase shoes at the Sole Swap Pop-Up Shop. Chambrone will have 30 pairs of a limited-edition Adidas Stan Smith collab, which will make its debut in Brooklyn.

The shoes built or sold at the shop will also feature smart tags from the San Francisco-based technology company Chronicled, which allows users to claim them as their own and add them to their digital collection, view secure profiles for each sneaker, and interact with others.
“The Chronicled technology allows us to protect our work from counterfeiting, to protect our customers’ purchases and to engage more directly with them and the broader world,” Chambrone said in a statement today.
And Chambrone won’t stop using Chronicled with the Brooklyn pop-up; he confirmed that he intends to include its smart tags in every pair of Shoe Surgeon shoes.
“Authenticity and forging a unique identity are increasingly important for young consumers,” Ryan Orr, CEO of Chronicled, said in a statement. “Dominic has been a key innovator in the community, and we are glad to be able to help him continue to push the boundaries.”
